Robert Kelly is the founder of Elite Sports Mind Coaching\ Elite Performance. He is a native of Galway and growing up he took part in and played competitively in a wide range of Sports, such as Schools Golf, Tennis, Badminton, Basketball, Football, Rowing and Swimming. Being so active in such a wide variety of Sports gave him a true understanding of the pressures that one undertakes to compete to be the best they can be at their chosen Sport.
From a young age he was always encouraged and inspired to partake in as many sports as possible. He was very fortunate to have his Mother as his Tennis Coach and also as someone who believed in the positive growth that could be taken from sports both mentally & physically.
After studying a Diploma in Clinical and Therapeutic Hypnotherapy and seeing first hand the benefits that it had on his clients with symptoms of stress and anxiety and how great it was for bringing about positive change and an abundance of confidence in people, He then continued on to finish a Post-Grad in Sports Mind Coaching. This is where he found his true passion, "helping people to achieve their dreams through the medium of sport".
Before becoming a Qualified Sports Mind Coach, Robert had a long demanding career as a Professional Chef. Although it may seem a long way from Sport, he would quickly go on to realise that all the Mental skills that he had as a Head Chef would continue to serve him with his career as a Sports Mind Coach, as many of them would turn out to be skills his clients would need on the field of play.
Skills such as:
- Being able to lead a team
- Having an ability to relate to your team
- Being able to build rapport & connect with people
- Having a voice that can lead a team
- To have an ability to remain calm & relaxed under pressure
- To have an ability to set targets & goals and achieve them
- And finally, to have the ability to keep your focus & concentration under pressure.
Robert believes, that it is his life experiences that help him to be such an effective Coach. He believes that these experiences have given him an ability to relate to people no matter what their struggles are, both in life and sports. At the young age of 15, Robert's Mother passed away suddenly from a blood clot on the golf course. This undoubtedly affected him through out his teenage and adult life, but he now recognises that these struggles have given him a unique gift through the learnings he has taken from them. With this in mind, Robert is always quick to point out & show his clients how the skills they are learning are transferable to improving other areas in their life.
Everyone can feel a little anxious or stressed both in life and sports from time to time, but its having that ability to be able to deal with these pressures in a fast and effective way that will really bring about that positive change inside of you.
With the help of Robert's Coaching you will learn how to Focus your Attention and Concentration and learn how to remove all Internal and External distractions. Whether it's that negative chatter that can sometimes enter your mind when you feel you are not playing to your full potential, or the external distractions of other players, audiences or even weather conditions.
